John Foyster was the first winner of GUFF, travelling from Australia to Seacon ’79, the Worldcon held in Brighton, England, in August 1979; afterwards he travelled extensively in Britain and Europe. He published Stranger in Stranger Lands in 1996 and towards the end of his life created a heavily photo-illustrated edition hosted online at eFanzines.com.
This ebook version based on the text of the second edition (with corrections and restorations but without photos) was added to the TAFF library on 1 November 2024. Roughly 94,000 words. The cover (left) recreates the general appearance of the 1996 print edition, where John chose not to include his own name on the front cover.
