Jerry Kaufman was the 1983 winner of the Down Under Fan Fund, travelling from the USA to Australia to attend that year’s NatCon in Sydney, with Harlan Ellison as guest of honour. After which he visited various Australian tourist attractions and fan centres including far-flung Perth. This substantial trip report was published in 1988, and Jerry has kindly given permission for ebook versions to be hosted in the TAFF Library – the first DUFF report to be included here.
Ebook version by Ansible Editions for the TAFF site released on 1 October 2025. This comprises the full original text and rubber-stamp interior artwork, plus many small corrections, a Harlan Ellison anecdote not previously included, and a new afterword by the author. The cover design by Carl Juarez and Jerry Kaufman was “remastered” for this edition. Over 32,000 words.
