Trans-Atlantic Fan Fund

2003: North America to Europe

Four to stand in TAFF race!

Excitement barely contained --

Ballots must be received by midnight February 10, 2003

Details:

I'm happy to announce that the 2003 Trans-Atlantic Fan Fund race has begun with four standing candidates: Randy Byers, Colin Hinz, Mike Lowrey and Curt Phillips. The winner of the contest will travel to the 2003 Eastercon, Seacon '03, in Hinckley, Leicestershire, which is to be held from April 18-21. To contact me, Victor Gonzalez, North American TAFF administrator, send e-mail to:

mailto:vmgonzalez247@yahoo.com

Voting will conclude at midnight February 10, 2003.

Please read the ballot carefully before voting.

From the ballot: "Who may vote? Voting in the 2003 race is open to anyone who was active in fandom prior to April 2001, and who contributes at least $3 or £2 to the Fund. Larger contributions will be gratefully accepted. Voting is by secret ballot: only one vote per person, and you must sign your ballot. You may change your vote any time prior to the deadline."

Electronic voting: For the first time, starting Dec. 5, electronic voting will be allowed, with payment via PayPal. Because this is an experiment, care will be taken to make sure that as little as possible goes wrong. All electronic votes (via e-mail) must include the full text of the ballot, and the exact e-mail address the PayPal payment was made from. Electronic votes will be printed onto paper by me, but will not be validated until the PayPal payment has been confirmed. No more than two votes (no more than ONE per voter) will be accepted for any particular e-mail address. (This should allow couples to vote more easily, but discourage block voting.)

All other TAFF rules (as listed on the ballot) apply to electronic votes.

Three ways to vote:

Traditional: The usual and most reliable way. On this page you will find a downloadable PDF file of the ballot. Print it, fill it out and mail it to the appropriate snail-mail address, with the appropriate contribution.

Semi-traditional (NOT YET AVAILABLE): Send the ballot by snail-mail, but make the payment via PayPal. On this page you'll find a downloadable PDF of the ballot, and a link to PayPal for the payment. Print the ballot and mail it to the appropriate address, and then make the appropraite contribution electronically.

E-mail (NOT YET AVAILABLE): Send the ballot by e-mail and send the contribution via PayPal. On this page you will find a text version of the ballot. Use that version. Cut the entire document, and paste it into an e-mail to the appropriate address. Use the PayPal link to make the payment.

Reproduction is encouraged:

Here is an HTML version of the ballot for viewing only. If you are a voter or a fan-editor interested in making copies of the ballot, please use the PDF version! (And, of course, the ballot must be reproduced verbatim; the person doing so should substitute their name for mine at the bottom of page two.)
